Specific - instead of setting an arbitrary goal like, "I want to bike more", choose something more specific such as "I plan to commute to work by e-bike every Friday."
Measurable - avoid words like "more" and "less" and instead choose metrics that will quantify your progress. "I want to bike over 50 miles each month."
Attainable - start small and celebrate the wins! Break up any big resolutions into mini-achievements to keep your spirits up.
Relevant - make sure your goals fit into your lifestyle, and make sure there is motivation attached to it. "I want to bike 50 miles each month so that I feel confident participating in a Century Ride in September."
Timely - be strict about deadlines and don't set your sights too far in the future. Long-term goals are great, but it's important to also set mini-goals that will create urgency and encourage you to start working on them immediately.
