E-Bike Family Fun Day - Launiupoko Beach (4 Hours)

A family e-bike ride might just be one of the most memorable experiences from your Maui vacation. It’s a unique way to enjoy Maui’s beauty, while getting exercise, avoiding traffic and having fun!

The electric bike makes it very easy to stay together, even among different skill and fitness levels. Faster and stronger riders can simply use a lower level of pedal assistance. Plus, we have cargo bikes to transport small children, as well as tandem bikes that make it even easier to ride with a buddy. 

The 14-mile ride to and from Launiupoko Beach is the longer of our two self-guided tour options and you should plan on spending at least 4 hours from start to finish. If you wish to do a shorter 2-hour tour, we recommend the 3 mile Canoe Beach Family Fun Day. 

GETTING TO AND FROM RIDESMART MAUI BIKE SHOP:

Head southbound from RideSmart Maui through Ka’anapali. You’ll soon merge on to a gorgeous bike path that runs along the coast. Kaanapali has a lot to offer, and it’s worth making a stop now or on your return trip.

 ​In 1.3 miles, you’ll reach Hanakao’o Beach Park (Canoe Beach). If you are doing the 2-hour self guided tour, this is where you will turn around after enjoying swimming, snorkeling and kayaking!​ 

Continue riding approximately for 2.5 miles until you reach the quaint town of Lahaina! This is a great spot to stop for a bite to eat, or enjoy the numerous tour attractions available. Some highlights include: 

• Shopping: Front Street is filled with colorful art galleries, souvenir shops, and boutiques. 
• Dining: Cool Cat Cafe, Betty’s Beach Cafe and Captain Jack’s and are just a few of the popular lunch spots to choose from. 
• History and Culture: The Lahaina Historic Trail offers 62 sites to discover in this former whaling town!

Continue venturing south towards Launiupoko until you reach the beach park. Now you get to soak up the sun, cool off in the crystal clear waters and enjoy some well-deserved relaxation before your ride back to Kaanapali. 

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES:

You may wish to enjoy one of the family-friendly attractions on the way to or from the beach park. If you plan to do one of these, be sure to book a full-day tour so you are not rushed. We recommend doing some research in advance to make sure the tour is open during the day and times you plan to visit, and make reservations if possible. The summer months are busy on Maui and tours can fill up in advance.

• Maui Dragon Fruit Farm - taste delicious exotic fruit and learn how to open a coconut
• Paradise Eco Adventures - go on an exhilarating zip line ride or play in an aqua ball

Helpful Tips:

• Keep an eye on the time and make sure to leave plenty of time for the trip back to our rental shop. 
• Try to plan your e-bike adventure on a weekday instead of a weekend or holiday for less crowds and book in advance to ensure there is an e-bike for every member of your family.
• If you have a lot of gear, or plan to bring young children, a Cargo e-bike is the best option. Give us a call and we’ll provide recommendations! 
• Consider booking a self-guided tour or hire one of our local guides to show you the highlights and enjoy an easy and educational experience.
• Always make sure to properly lock up your e-bike when not in use. Please look for public bike racks and do not block the sidewalks. 
• If you can’t fit everything you want to do in a day, consider a multi-day e-bike rental.
